Wrestling Rumors: Adam “Hangman” Page Returning for The Elites

Amid all the rumors about this weekend’s AEW Forbidden Door PPV, one of the biggest rumors is that Adam “Hangman” Page will make his return at this PPV. The former AEW World Champion has been out of action since early March 2024 and the AEW Revolution PPV. Page is not injured and was not injured during this time. He was out of work for personal reasons and had contractually obligated time off to tend to it.

The Bloody Feud

Before that, Page had been in a lengthy feud with Swerve Strickland, who has since become AEW World Champion in his absence. Both became the center of the fans’ attention during this bloody feud. Swerve upset numerous fans and Page by sneaking into Page’s baby son’s room at their Virginia home. So to say that Page should still be upset would be an understatement. However, at AEW Revolution PPV, Page lost to Samoa Joe in an AEW World Championship Triple Threat match. Swerve Strickland was also in this match.

From what I understand, Adam “Hangman” Page will have his absence added to his current contract. Tony Khan was not surprised by his absence which is suspected to be a family issue. Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp stated in his question-and-answer show from June 19th that Hangman was always expected to miss this amount of time.

The Return of the Hangman

So after being out of action for nearly four months, Hangman Page is poised for a return according to Fightful Select. It was reported by Fightful on June 19th that creative was being put in place for Hangman’s return to the company. It will be within the next month. Fightful believes it will be before early July. However, I believe it will be on Saturday, June 29th at AEW Forbidden Door as a heel.

The New Elite suspended “Hangman” Adam Page from the group, but nothing is stopping them from bringing Page back. The New Elite challenged Team AEW to a Blood and Guts match in Nashville, TN on July 24th. They are looking for a fifth member of their team. Many fans believe Page to be that member. So even if Page doesn’t show up this weekend then fans believe they will see him at AEW Blood and Guts. I sure hope so.
