Who and What is Sukeban Event in Los Angeles?

An independent Joshi wrestling promotion called Sukeban took over Los Angeles on Thursday, May 30, 2024, for a high-profile event. Starting in September 2023, Sukeban became one of the newest independent wrestling promotions around. Recent WWE Hall of Famer, Bull Nakano is the on-screen commissioner for the promotion. However, there were several big names spotted by fans at the show.

Nick Khan and Josh Barnett

WWE President Nick Khan was spotted on the balcony but was not seen on camera. This is not the only non-WWE event Khan has been seen at this year. He was also at the GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 10 event in Philadelphia over WrestleMania 40 weekend. Whether Mr. Khan was at Sukeban in a business capacity is unclear. However, interestingly, Barnett was in attendance at the same event.

Jon Moxley and Renee Paquette

IWGP World Champion and AEW superstar, Jon Moxley, and his wife, Renee Paquette were at the event. Paquette was on the Sukeban commentary team. It is assumed that Moxley had decided to stay in California after this week’s Los Angeles AEW Dynamite and Rampage episodes. There have been no photos or videos showing Moxley supporting his wife’s commentary. Both Barnett and Moxley will be at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport: Bushido event on June 22nd.

PWInsider.com is told that DJ Diplo was in attendance and there were a lot of models and actors at the event as well. There was no information concerning whether Khan, Barnett, or Moxley interacted at all during or after the event. It’s my opinion that it was all just a coincidence at a wrestling show.
