Ricochet Gives WWE Intent to Leave After Contract Runs Out

Will we see a new career move for Ricochet? Maybe…FINALLY. Will Ospreay excited fans when he mentioned he would love another match with Ricochet. So this announcement about him giving the WWE notice that when his contract runs out his intent is to leave.

Ricochet Gives Notice

According to a PWInsider report from Mike Johnson, multiple sources state that Ricochet notified WWE that he intends to leave the company when his contract expires. It is believed that is in July 2024. PWInsider notes that he was written out of WWE Raw storylines on June 10th. A WWE Speed episode was taped on June 7th in Louisville, KY. Louisville just happens to be Ricochet’s hometown. He lost the WWE Speed Championship to Andrade.

Past Accomplishments

Ricochet was successful on the indies and then had memorable runs in New Japan Pro Wrestling, EVOLVE, Dragon Gate, and Lucha Underground. In NJPW, he won the 2014 Best of the Super Juniors Tournament. While in Lucha Underground, Ricochet was a main character called Prince Puma on the El Rey Network series. He won the Lucha Underground Championship twice. Ricochet was also the first-ever House of Glory Champion.

As mentioned above, the two high-flyers Ricochet and Will Ospreay set the wrestling world on fire in 2016 while both were in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Their last in-ring encounter came in August 2017 for WhatCulture Pro Wrestling. During a Comicbook.com interview on May 24th, Ospreay said that he gets sad when he sees Ricochet’s positioning on WWE television. He hoped that Ricochet was happy.

Ospreay stated that he thought Ricochet’s contract would be up soon. “The fact that they only value his time for under five minutes is appalling to me,” Ospreay continued, referencing Ricochet’s current position on WWE Speed, a social media wrestling show that limits its matches to three minutes. Hopefully, no matter where Ricochet decides to go he will get to wrestle Will Ospreay again.

WWE Accomplishments

Ricochet joined WWE in 2018 and debuted at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. Throughout his years with the company, he has held the Intercontinental Championship, the United States Championship, the NXT North American Championship, and the WWE Speed Championship. Aleister (Now AEW’s Malakai) Black and Ricochet won the 2019 WWE NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Classic.

Personally, I can’t wait to see where Ricochet lands. There is a lot of speculation that it will be AEW, but I, also, believe that you will see NJPW and TNA Wrestling make offers to him. I just hope we get to see Ricochet versus PAC and Ricochet versus Rey Fenix along with the Will Ospreay match after he is free and clear contractually.
