Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful interviewed TNA Wrestling’s Jordynne Grace. He spoke with her about her shocking WWE NXT appearance on Tuesday, May 28th. She talked about how WWE NXT officials wanted to bring the NXT Women’s Champion, Roxanne Perez backstage to see who her next competitor was. However, Perez didn’t want to know who she was facing until they came out since Grace had been a closely guarded secret. Roxanne wanted to find out with the rest of the world. She wanted her reaction to be authentic.
The TNA Wrestling Knockout Champion, Jordynne Grace revealed that TNA Wrestling and WWE have had conversations for months. In the last few weeks, her appearing on a WWE NXT episode became a possibility. On Sunday, May 26th, she received her travel information from WWE. Upon her arrival at the hotel, WWE sent doctors to perform her physical and blood work. She stated this was a first for her.
Meeting Ethan Page
Afterward, Grace went down to the hotel gym for a workout. The only person in the gym was Ethan Page who she knew from TNA Wrestling. He was shocked and asked her not to ruin his surprise NXT appearance. She laughed and told Sean Ross Sapp that she told Page not to ruin HER surprise NXT appearance. Both of them ended up going to Cezar Bononi’s house to stay out of the public eye.
WWE NXT had a special parking spot for Jordynne Grace. They ushered her in during the show, at about 8:30 pm EST. She said that Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative, Shawn Michaels was very excited about her appearance and wanted to make wrestling as fun as possible.
Grace’s Ripped Ear
Jordynne Grace got a chunk of her ear ripped out during a match with Marti Belle of The Hex. She discussed this with Sean Ross Sapp. Grace’s earring on the top of her ear was caught on Belle’s tights. Later The Hex cut a promo and showed off the “trophy” they took from her. Then Grace stole back the tights and earrings. She attempted to sell the earrings on eBay, but they removed the post. However, Grace received a text from Mick Foley that said “Welcome to the club,” after it was publicized that her ear had been ripped.
WWE/TNA Wrestling Partnership
Grace admitted that she is facing a lot of pressure from carrying the possibility of a WWE/TNA Wrestling partnership on her shoulders. She said her biggest fear is falling short of everyone’s expectations. The TNA Wrestling Knockouts Champion is working out in her head how she should approach the match with Roxanne Perez and how she should perform. She said that if she falls on her face she recognizes it could be “cataclysmic.”
I Want to Wrestle Natalya
She recently sat down with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated where she reflected on her Royal Rumble appearance and hopes that WWE returns the favor by sending Natalya to wrestle her in TNA Wrestling. “I’m still waiting for Natalya to come over,” Jordynne Grace said. “That one of my dream matches. She’s someone I watched growing up, and she’s never really been outside of the WWE for the past two decades. She’s a pioneer, and I want to wrestle her in TNA.”
Natalya seems like she’s on board too. She named Jordynne Grace as one of the women she’d like to work with during a recent interview with WrestleZone.
